Monthly Obsessions: June 2016

Aloha Friends!  As (pinky) promised, I'm back again with another post, and this time it's my favorite kind of post to write... A MONTHLY OBSESSIONS!

Since I haven't posted (at all) forever, I've had a lot of time to try lots of new products so fasten your seat belts, because this is going to be a long one!

1. Revlon Transforming Effects Top Coat in Holographic Pearls
If you read my most recent Mani Mondays post, you already know that I've been completely obsessed with this polish since the day I laid eyes on it.  Every mani since I got it has included this polish and I don't think I'll ever stop using it.  Holo polishes are really difficult to find outside the interwebs so when I saw this at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I knew I couldn't be without it.  Although it isn't my first holo polish, it's definitely my favorite.
Here are the beautiful holo rainbows in action

2. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Skin Perfector in Light/Medium
This BB cream has been out for a while, but I never tried it because I've always been suspicious of non K-beauty BB creams.  I picked it up because I wanted something light for my recent trip to Hawaii and this absolutely did it.  It claims to be an 8 in 1 because it supposedly blurs imperfections, enhances, brightens, adjusts to skin-tone, smooths, hydrates, SPF 30 protects, and is 0% oils and other heavy ingredients, although I haven't noticed all these properties, I think it does a good job.  It has a light coverage, but enough to even out you skin.  Be aware, however, that this BB cream does have a dewy-er finish, which I don't mind :).

3. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal
Everyone who's ever spent time watching makeup tutorials knows that Champagne Pop is a BIG DEAL, however the second most popular and definitely underrated Opal, takes the cake for me.  I love that this highlighter is able to add a healthy glow to my face when I want a light highlight and make me look like your discoball goals when I want to shine brighter than the sun.  I picked this highlighter up in a mini set from Sephora that also came with Spotlight version, however the pressed powder is everything I've been looking for and more.

4. NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
Admittedly, I haven't had this shadow primer for long, probably only about two weeks, but it has been life changing.   I absolutely love Urban Decay Primer Potion, but this NARS primer changed the game.  After I started using it, I've noticed that my eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara have been looking as good at the end of the day as it did right after I did it all and that is AMAZING.  The only downside is that it comes in a tube with a doe-foot applicator rather than a squeeze tube, which means getting the last bits of the product out will be difficult, but for now, I'll just bask in how amazing this primer is.

5.  Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Dark Brown
In my Holy Grails edition of my Monthly Obsessions, I included the ABH Dipbrow in Dark Brown, I've been changed.  Dipbrow is still an HG to me however, since purchasing the Brow Definer, I've been using my Dipbrow less and less.  Having a brow pencil is more convenient, and I've found that I have better control with a pencil rather than with a brush.  I love that the Brow Definer comes with a spooly end that specifically made to blend out the Brow Definer because I think that it allows for you to do a better job so that your brows are on fleek every time.

6. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black
Strangely enough, the first way I learned how to use eyeliner was with a cream/gel pot and an angled liner brush.  I completely skipped using pencils and liquids and went straight for the hardcore stuff, which definitely paid off cause I can flick that liner in 0.2 seconds.  Even though I started with cream/gel liner when I was 13, I eventually moved onto liquid and thought I'd never look back, but one day, I discovered this Maybelline gel liner and impulse bought it and I am absolutely glad I did. I'm an eyeliner fanatic.  I cannot live without it therefore it is my goal in life to find the best ones there are, ones that apply smoothly, opaquely, don't smudge, and last a lifetime.  I am here to say that this eyeliner has made that list.  It has incredible color payoff and dries quickly (but not in the pot!!). Once I rubbed my eye and forgot I had makeup on, but this liner didn't budge.  I could write more, but then you'd be here for an hour, so I'll end on this: you must buy this eyeliner.

7.  Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve
Like the NARS primer, I haven't had this lip color for long, but I'm absolutely IN LOVE with it.  It had a really smooth and easy to apply formula and it NEVER budges.  You can eat greasy foods, soups, drink without a straw, and this lip color stays forever.  I've worn it basically every day since I got it.  Although it's named is "cream lip stain," it's definitely more of a liquid lipstick.  The formula is smooth, light, and not super drying like a lot of liquid lip products, but do be aware that it likes to emphasize if your lips are dry.

8. Tocca Simone
I've always been curious about Tocca fragrances.  I've seen them in Sephora and online and always wanted to try one, so one day I was browsing around Sephora and smelled Simone and knew I had to have it.  Tocca is a pricier fragrance brand so I knew I couldn't drop $68 on a full sized bottle but was so happy when I found a little set of four Tocca rollerballs, that included Simone, for $15. It really worked out because I wanted to try the fragrance before I really committed to it and now I know that I definitely need the full size of it.  It's fruity and floral scent is the perfect combination and it's light enough for everyday wear.

9. Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-In Conditioner
I recently ombre'd my hair and if you've ever done it, you'd know how dry and dead your hair can get it you don't care for it properly.  Being that I'm a broke college student, I perused the haircare aisle of the drugstore for cheaper alternatives to expensive products and found this Aussie leave-in conditioner.  I've always been a fan of the 3 Minute Miracle and this leave-in conditioner is just as amazing.  It has a light coconut scent and leaves my hair feeling super soft and looking healthy.  It's also super affordable and there are always coupons for Aussie products in the Sunday paper!

10. Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Polish in Sugar Cane
I never really ever exfoliated my body because I never really thought it would change anything, but one day I decided to pick up this sugar scrub and my views have changed.  It's not super abrasive and leaves my skin really soft and smelling like cupcakes.  I usually use it before I shave and it actually really makes a difference.

11. Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Covered Blueberries
I finished an entire bag of these little spheres of heaven in one sitting and I have no ragrets.  These are similar to the Brookside Chocolate Blueberries because unlike the Brookside, which is blueberry jellies covered in dark chocolate, the Ghirardelli ones are real dried blueberries covered in dark chocolate, which makes it 100000000x better.  I could seriously just eat these for the rest of my life.

12. Pineapple Juice
Like I mentioned in my first obsession, I recently went to Hawaii so I've been in a super tropical mood since.  I've always loved pineapple juice, but of course I've been loving it more since going to Hawaii.  I don't know what else to say about it other than that it's really amazing and I could also just drink this for the rest of my life. (No links for this one, just check your fave grocery stores :))

Aaaaaannnndddd that is all my obsessions for June 2016!  I'm so happy to be blogging again and I'm looking for new products to try and obsess over, so send me suggestions!

(also, sorry the photos sucked, I haven't done this in a while lolz)

Thanks for reading!!

Mani Mondays: July 4, 2016

Hello Friends, long time no see!  I've been gone forever, you probably thought I died, but I didn't. I'm here, alive, and ready to blog again!  It's been months, but school got stressful, blah blah blah, but never fear, I'm back and I pinky promise more blogposts!

Speaking of pinkies... what a better way to come back to the blogosphere than with a Mani Mondays! I've recently gotten back into actually doing my nails, rather than just painting them and I've been OBSESSED with holographic polishes!  This week's Mani Monday is a happy marriage of my two favorite things, baby pink and holo glitter, so without further ado...

This week I have Zoya Dot with Revlon Transforming Effects in Holographic Pearls on top!

In my past Mani Mondays posts, I've mentioned that I use OPI Nail Envy as my base coat, but I've since run out and I started using this Clear Bond base coat from INM.  It's definitely no Nail Envy, but it beats the price.

Zoya Dot has become my go-to nail polish.  It's a gorgeous baby pink which means it usually goes with anything and can also make a statement.

I've become obsessed with holo glitter ever since I discovered Simply Nailogical on YouTube (thanks Cristine) and when I found this holo polish by Revlon Transforming Effects in Holographic Pearls at my local Bed, Bath, and Beyond (what is beyond??) I snatched it faster than I snatch up chicken nuggets, and that's saying something.  Ever since, I've been putting it on top of every polish I own and even wearing it by itself.  I've taken tons of Snapchat videos of it and tweeted about it.  I'm obsessed.  I've included two photos, one without flash, and one with, and also a video so you can see those beautiful holos in action.

look at those holos werk (on my thumb too!)

And last, but not least, I still use my holy grail top coat, Out the Door, to seal in the design and add a beautiful shine! (sorry CutePolish).

And that is my mani for this week!  I've been wanting to post a Mani Monday forever, but because I switched my mani days from Sunday to Wednesday, it changed everything.  By the time I remembered to take photos of my nails, they were chipped and ugly :/ but I'm going to tie a string on my finger and remember to take photos right after I do them, pinky promise!

I hope you enjoyed this week's mani!  I've missed you!  Thanks for reading :))))))
