Steal My Look: My Everyday Makeup

Hello Friends and Happy Monday! As my life as gotten busier and crazier, I noticed that I've fallen into a routine when it comes to my makeup.  I have a select little group of products that I love so much and use every day, so I decided that I'd share with you all the products that I use on a daily and walk you through how I use each product.  This isn't a tutorial though, so sorry there isn't photos of me applying my makeup or anything.  You get to see the after though so don't trip.
*this picture has a filter*

1. Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!
I always start my everyday makeup routine with the Neutrogena Hyrdo Boost Water Gel facial moisturizer.  It's important that you let it set into your skin before applying any primer or foundation to prevent ugly dry patches.

2. Prep and Foundation
After moisturizer, I spray a little of Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater all over my face.  This acts as my primer in a way, but I really just use it to wake up my skin and give it a little bit of refreshment.  I then apply my foundation.  Lately I've been getting back into using my Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation.  I like to use a stippling brush in a swirling motion to apply my foundation.  It blends it in nicely and makes me look flawless.

3. Conceal and Set
- I don't really like to spot conceal blemishes because I want them to be able to breathe in order for them to heal faster so I just conceal my under eye area and my t-zone above and between my brows.  I use Maybelline's Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting concealer in a triangle shape on my under eyes and a weird eagle shape above my brows.  A damp beautyblender does a great job of blending out the concealer.  This step really helps me to look healthy and more awake.  Finally I set what I've already done with the Mario Badescu facial spray before moving onto eyes.

4. Primer and Brows
- I take a tiny amount of Urban Decay Primer Potion on both my eyelids, lower lashline, and brows to prep for eyeshadow, liner, etc.  After that I move onto my brows where I take a spooly brush to brush out my brows and get all the little brow hairs going in the direction I want them to.  Then I use a angled liner brush and my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown to fill in my brows and go back with my spooly to blend out any harsh lines.  Finally I use my Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer to highlight and conceal on my browbone.

5. Eyeshadow
- I use Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze all over my lids as a base.  Then I use my Urban Decay Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette for the rest of my look.  I first take a mix of Anaheim and Stark in my crease, then a mix of Zone and Punk for my outer corner to deepen the look.  I take Baby and apply it on my inner 2/3 of my lid and sweep a bit of Punk on my bottom lashline.  Pop goes into the inner corner and inner half of my bottom lashline to make my eyes look brighter.

6. Mascara and Eyeliner
- I've always struggled with my lash curler smudging my perfectly winged eyeliner so recently I've been curling my lashes and applying mascara before I do my liner.  Once I manage to curl my stick straight lashes, I apply L'oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof mascara on my lashes.  I don't wear mascara on my bottom lashes because I feel like it makes my lashes look spidery but if you do like to apply mascara on your bottom lashline, apply it before you do your upper lashline as it prevents your top and bottom lashes from sticking together.  After my mascara, I wing my eyeliner perfectly every time using L'oreal Paris The Super Slim liquid eyeliner.  Doing this after my mascara definitely made a difference in smudge prevention.

7. Contour, Blush, Highlight, and the Final Set
- If you've read past posts about my favorite bronzer, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil, you'd know that I am addicted to it.  I follow the basic "3" shape when I do my bronzer, starting in the hollows of my cheeks because that's where I want the darkest shadow to be, then I move to my jawline, and lastly to my temples.  As for my blush, I tend to switch between my Urban Decay Afterglow blush in Rapture and Benefit Rockateur blush.  I apply it above my bronzer, extending it back to along my hairline so I don't look like one of those creepy dolls.  I still haven't found a highlighter that I absolutely love, but for now I'm using the highlighter in my Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette in Naked on my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.  Once I'm done with my contour, I set everything with my Mario Badescu facial spray one last time.

8.  Lips
- I switch up my lip color a lot, but lately I've been using NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Natural to line my lips (sometimes I fill in my lips completely, it just depends on how I feel to be honest) and I apply Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita in the center of my lips and I use my finger to blend it out - I do this twice.  The reason I don't apply the lipstick to my entire lips with the applicator is because I'm not completely sure that I can pull off Lolita, but I definitely can in the way I wear it. When I don't want to wear this lip combo, I interchange it with NYX Lip Lingerie in Bedtime Flirt, NYX Matte Lip Cream in Cannes with NYX lip pencil in Natural, and Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick - Kate Moss #104 with NYX lip pencil in Natural.  I tend to like to go with the pink nudes for every day.

And that is my entire everyday makeup look!  Here's one last look without a filter...
Does it seem like a lot?  Eight steps isn't too much for every day right?  After like four years of actually being really into makeup, I'm proud to say that I think I do a pretty good job on my face every day lol.  It took four years to get to this point.  I'm pretty proud of that.

If you try this look, tweet me pics using #thecaitlynlee!  I can't wait to see :)))) ANNDDD if you're interested in any of the products I use, scroll back up and hover over the names of each product then click.  There's a link for everything!  Enjoy!

Monthly Obsessions: January 2016

Hello Friends!  We've officially made it through the first month of the new year and I am back to share with you all the things I've been loving in the month of January!

1. Urban Decay UD Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

- I'm OBSESSED with this palette.  From the moment I heard that Gwen and UD were partnering, I knew I had to have everything they would be coming out with.  I've used this palette so much already that I messed it up before I could take photos for a review (which is why there isn't one...).  The shadow called Baby is my absolute favorite.  This palette is great because it isn't a neutrals palette and it isn't a colors palette, but a perfect balance of the two.  I really recommend this palette if you're looking for something unique for your makeup collection.  Oh, and the packaging is GORGEOUS. This palette has definitely become my favorite, every day palette.

2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herb, and Rose Water
Because I'm super cheap and refuse to drop more than $10 on a setting spray unless my life depended on it, I never found a setting spray that wowed me.  I heard that rosewater has a lot of amazing benefits for your skin and when I found out that this Mario Badescu facial spray was only $7, I had to try it.  It has a rose scent that goes away right after you spray it.  It was a little off-putting at first, but when it went away it was fine.  It feels amazingly hydrating and light as well.

3. Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Blush in Rapture

- I bought this blush back in June 2015 because it shares the same name as my favorite UD lipstick and because it was unlike any blush I have in my makeup collection.  This deep mauve blush can scare some people away because it looks dark, but I've found that not only does it look good on my pale complexion, but any complexion.  It feels light on the face and has amazing staying power.  I love that the packaging doesn't have a mirror, which my seem weird, but it comes as an advantage to not have to wipe the mirror clean from the loose powder that settles there.  The packaging is sleek and thin, making it easy for travel.  I used to just wear this blush on special occasions, but now I find myself wearing it basically every day.

4. One Direction You & I Fragrance

- Why did I just buy this for myself???? You know I love One Direction with all my heart, but it took me forever to finally bring myself to buying their fragrances, so for Christmas, my mom bought me the You & I gift set.  Since Christmas Day, this is the only fragrance I wear.  I have so many perfumes that won't be getting any love from me until this huge bottle is empty.  Everyone who gets a whiff of it tells me they love it as well.  I spray it on everything from gifts, cards, pillows, etc.  I honestly don't know how I went so long without this perfume.

5. Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

- This is an oldie but a goodie.  I've used this cream shadow for almost two years, and I find myself loving more and more each time I use it.  The color is perfect for every day and it's super blendable. It's easy to control how little or how much you apply and it's finger and brush friendly.  I find that applying it with a brush, gives a lighter, feathery look, whereas applying it with a finger gives it a more pigmented, metallic color.  It's nice and versatile so you can use it any way you'd like.

6. NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Natural

- This lip liner has always been my absolute favorite, but I've been using it more recently as a base for Kat Von D's Lolita liquid lip color for my everyday lip look.  It glides on super smoothly and is long lasting.  It's easy to use if you're going to apply it all over the lips versus just lining the lips.  The darker nude color is perfect on it's own or I even use it to vamp up other lighter lip colors.  It pairs well with basically every lipstick, but I specially like to pair it with Kat Von D's Lolita, Rimmel Kate in #104, and NYX Cannes.  The best part is that it's super affordable!!!!!

7. Loacker Quadrantini Dark Chocolate Wafers

- My grandma used to buy these for me when I was younger, and I recently discovered that the little store at my school sells them so of course I had to buy them.  I've eaten almost the entire bag by myself because THEY TASTE AMAZING.  They come in many different flavors but I've only ever tried the chocolate varieties.  The hazelnut, almond, and tiramisu flavors sound so good too.  I'm eating them as I write about how much I love them.

8. Starbucks Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade

- This was also included in my June 2015 Obsessions, but STARBUCKS HAS MADE THIS AN ALL-YEAR-LONG MENU ITEM.  It was the greatest thing I ever discovered and of course I can't drink anything else now that it's back forever.  I'm not going to rave about it here because I already did in my June Obsessions, but you can read about it here!

9. Michael Buble's "Me and Mrs. Jones"

- This song is almost 10 years old but it is still AMAZING.  I honestly can't tell you why I like it so much.  This song just has a really chill vibe and an amazing melody.  The lyrics are super promiscuous because ya know, Mrs. Jones and Mr. Buble getting it on in a cafe every day at 6:30... If they go to the same place everyday, how are people not catching onto what they're doing??? ANYWAYZ... If you want to listen to "Me and Mrs. Jones" head on over to the left side bar to my Music I Love <3 playlist!

10. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

- Why did I just now discover how amazing this show is??? It's produced by the same company that produced Parks and Recreation, which is another one of my favorite shows.  Terry Cruz is amazing in this show and I keep asking myself why I'm oddly attracted to Andy Samberg.  If you loved Parks and Recreation, you're absolutely going to LOVE Brooklyn Nine-Nine.  Nick Offerman also makes and appearance as a gay gynecologist, so definitely check it out.

That is all my obsessions for the month of January 2016!  Apologies for not posting as often as I should be.  I'm back at school and life has been so hectic.  I promise to try to be more consistent with posting because I do have lots of ideas about what to write about!  If you have any suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments, send me a message, or tweet me using #thecaitlynlee!  I'm open to anything you have to say!

Thanks for reading!!!!
