1. Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!
I always start my everyday makeup routine with the Neutrogena Hyrdo Boost Water Gel facial moisturizer. It's important that you let it set into your skin before applying any primer or foundation to prevent ugly dry patches.
2. Prep and Foundation
After moisturizer, I spray a little of Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater all over my face. This acts as my primer in a way, but I really just use it to wake up my skin and give it a little bit of refreshment. I then apply my foundation. Lately I've been getting back into using my Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. I like to use a stippling brush in a swirling motion to apply my foundation. It blends it in nicely and makes me look flawless.
3. Conceal and Set
- I don't really like to spot conceal blemishes because I want them to be able to breathe in order for them to heal faster so I just conceal my under eye area and my t-zone above and between my brows. I use Maybelline's Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting concealer in a triangle shape on my under eyes and a weird eagle shape above my brows. A damp beautyblender does a great job of blending out the concealer. This step really helps me to look healthy and more awake. Finally I set what I've already done with the Mario Badescu facial spray before moving onto eyes.
4. Primer and Brows
- I take a tiny amount of Urban Decay Primer Potion on both my eyelids, lower lashline, and brows to prep for eyeshadow, liner, etc. After that I move onto my brows where I take a spooly brush to brush out my brows and get all the little brow hairs going in the direction I want them to. Then I use a angled liner brush and my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown to fill in my brows and go back with my spooly to blend out any harsh lines. Finally I use my Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer to highlight and conceal on my browbone.
5. Eyeshadow
- I use Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze all over my lids as a base. Then I use my Urban Decay Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette for the rest of my look. I first take a mix of Anaheim and Stark in my crease, then a mix of Zone and Punk for my outer corner to deepen the look. I take Baby and apply it on my inner 2/3 of my lid and sweep a bit of Punk on my bottom lashline. Pop goes into the inner corner and inner half of my bottom lashline to make my eyes look brighter.
6. Mascara and Eyeliner
- I've always struggled with my lash curler smudging my perfectly winged eyeliner so recently I've been curling my lashes and applying mascara before I do my liner. Once I manage to curl my stick straight lashes, I apply L'oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof mascara on my lashes. I don't wear mascara on my bottom lashes because I feel like it makes my lashes look spidery but if you do like to apply mascara on your bottom lashline, apply it before you do your upper lashline as it prevents your top and bottom lashes from sticking together. After my mascara, I wing my eyeliner perfectly every time using L'oreal Paris The Super Slim liquid eyeliner. Doing this after my mascara definitely made a difference in smudge prevention.
7. Contour, Blush, Highlight, and the Final Set
- If you've read past posts about my favorite bronzer, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil, you'd know that I am addicted to it. I follow the basic "3" shape when I do my bronzer, starting in the hollows of my cheeks because that's where I want the darkest shadow to be, then I move to my jawline, and lastly to my temples. As for my blush, I tend to switch between my Urban Decay Afterglow blush in Rapture and Benefit Rockateur blush. I apply it above my bronzer, extending it back to along my hairline so I don't look like one of those creepy dolls. I still haven't found a highlighter that I absolutely love, but for now I'm using the highlighter in my Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette in Naked on my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. Once I'm done with my contour, I set everything with my Mario Badescu facial spray one last time.
8. Lips
- I switch up my lip color a lot, but lately I've been using NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Natural to line my lips (sometimes I fill in my lips completely, it just depends on how I feel to be honest) and I apply Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita in the center of my lips and I use my finger to blend it out - I do this twice. The reason I don't apply the lipstick to my entire lips with the applicator is because I'm not completely sure that I can pull off Lolita, but I definitely can in the way I wear it. When I don't want to wear this lip combo, I interchange it with NYX Lip Lingerie in Bedtime Flirt, NYX Matte Lip Cream in Cannes with NYX lip pencil in Natural, and Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick - Kate Moss #104 with NYX lip pencil in Natural. I tend to like to go with the pink nudes for every day.
And that is my entire everyday makeup look! Here's one last look without a filter...
Does it seem like a lot? Eight steps isn't too much for every day right? After like four years of actually being really into makeup, I'm proud to say that I think I do a pretty good job on my face every day lol. It took four years to get to this point. I'm pretty proud of that.
